Two years ago, when I started working as a host in the Caribbean for More Sailing, the Atlantic was unthinkable. I had never even put my boat on a sailboat before. I heard stories from three colleagues who had arrived in St. Lucia just a week before us to season in the Caribbean after sailing across together. They talked about their journey, which sounded incredible and challenging. Last summer, when I was doing my second summer season as a host and mentor in Croatia, I was asked if I wanted to go and sail across the Atlantic and then work my third season in the Caribbean, I couldn't really take it in. Plus, after a couple of years of working abroad, I thought I would go back to Gothenburg and start studying. It was not the right time in life so I chose to pass up the opportunity. During the fall, the idea came up again, and I was with my boss who was going to sail over on several meetings with the people who were going to sail with. The eagerness I usually feel in me when fun life experiences appear came out strongly. I could not resist this opportunity. My whole gut instinct screamed that I should go, but the worry of falling too far behind in school and my new life in Gothenburg put a spanner in the works. Finally, after asking my friends and family, and especially myself, I decided to go. My school said no at first because there would be too many absences and I would fall behind, but I persisted and suggested a study plan. In the end, my tutor and I agreed on an individualized schedule and I was able to pack my suitcase.
Imagine that little me had the chance to sail across the Atlantic. An opportunity that did not previously exist and that I certainly would not have dared without my personal development over the years. Now we have passed the halfway point of our journey, and I am not looking forward to going ashore. Yesterday at sunset I did yoga to Titanic's song my heart Will go on on the foredeck, also called the "lounge"I feel so good here with our Sirli family. A great group of people doing this amazing journey together.
Thank you for me!
