Meet the family who sailed in Croatia - "best trip in a long time"

Picturesque bays, pleasant atmosphere and historical sites. The Reinhold family traveled to Croatia and enjoyed the relaxed life on board the boat. There was also an encounter with dolphins!

- The kids absolutely loved it and thought this was the best trip they had done in a long time! And they have still traveled a lot, says Jennifer as she looks back on the summer holiday in Croatia.

The idea of sailing had been around for a long time and so had the dream of visiting Croatia. When they heard about More Sailing through friends and colleagues, it seemed obvious - of course they would vacation on a boat in Croatia. The family has previously traveled on cruises in the Caribbean. The contrast could not be greater.

- This is more picturesque. A relaxed life at a slower pace and also quieter than on a cruise ship. Also more personal. The girls who were skipper and host on the boat made the trip even better!

Tell me more!

- The work that the skipper and the host put down is absolutely outstanding in my eyes. Especially the food. Our host Felicia cooked the best food I have ever eaten and that they both could rotate guests in the way they did was fantastic. Then the boat was very nicely equipped and felt luxurious!

What was the best thing about sailing in Croatia?

- In addition to hosting, the freedom and tranquility of the boat was fantastic. The surroundings were incredibly beautiful and Croatia as a country has so much to offer. I really like history and the country's history with wars and independence goes way back in time. Everywhere we stayed there was something to dig into, which was great fun. Then the water is so beautiful and the area is known for its sailing! There are good winds and we got to see so much - at the same time, you can always get to a bay where it is completely calm.

Were there any challenges?

- The packing! Haha, next time I will listen to the advice to bring soft suitcases. And pack smart! We compete a lot in the family in equestrian sports and travel around by truck, so we still have some control over packing smart. But when you are on a boat, it is still nice and important to bring everything with you - even if you are not completely stranded. There was also a fear of getting seasick, but we managed to avoid it, which was nice!

What did the children think about vacationing on a boat?

- The best trip they have had in a long time. Our skipper and host made the trip even better! They were very careful to include the kids in everything, asked if they wanted to learn and were generally very sweet. To their credit, the kids loved it.

That's great to hear. What were the highlights of the trip?

- I would like to say everything, but especially getting to visit and see so many places in one week! A highlight for the whole family was when we stopped in the middle of the sea and swam from the boat, in quite deep water. It was very cool! For the children, the dolphins were a given highlight but also to be able to drive the boat and learn how to sail. I would like to make another trip to relive it all! Maybe in a new destination? Greece is tempting! Also the Caribbean.

Was there anything in particular that surprised you during the trip?

- It was fun that we were able to control where we were going. It was not completely decided, which meant that we could be involved and have our say. Should we go to this island or that island? The sun is shining there - yes, but we are going there!

How would you describe a day on the boat?

- I am a morning person and always get up very early in the morning. It was special to have my morning coffee on deck in the sun when everyone else is asleep and the sea is completely quiet and calm. A highlight was also the 11 bowl which means that you get some bubble or other good drink to drink and coffee. It was a cozy moment for the whole family as we often took a bathing stop and gathered.

Favorite stop during the week?

- All stops had their charm! It is very difficult to rank what was best. The whole trip was magical!
